Our Exclusive Interview with Miss Brigitte Levesque
How did you get started in the fitness?
I have been interested in fitness since 2001 but only
followed my dream 4 years later. I was not a lean girl so I had to shed
22% of bodyfat before making my first show. I won my class and best routine
and have steadily climbed the fitness mainstream up to the national and
international level.
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment?
Instead of wishing I could do something, I took action
and finally did it! The feeling of satisfaction and pride I got was incredible
and I urge everyone to do the same!
Is fitness modeling/ competition your
full-time job?
Being a figure competitor is not a full-time job but
it sure feels like one! The discipline it takes to maintain your diet 24/7
and training is not a ritual easily embraced.
What are your long-term goals?
My ultimate goal would be to qualify for an IFBB Pro
Card. I have been following the fitness mainstream for some time and would
love to make it to the pros.
What supplements do you use?
First and foremost, eating well is the most important
factor in a diet. I only rely on supplements such as protein powder if I don’t
have my meals with me. I supplement my diet with vitamins, minerals, fish
oils and glutamine.
How do you motivate yourself to stay
in shape?
I always keep my goal in mind on days that are harder
mentally. I visualize myself on stage and it helps me keep my focus. Comments
and positive feedback from my peers also keep me motivated.
What tips would you give to someone
who wanted to get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition)?
I would strongly advise to hire a good coach. You can
make it on your own but you will avoid a lot of mistakes by having someone
to help you out. I hired one of the best coaches in the fitness industry,
Francine Savard.
